Wednesday, August 13th —GOING DEEPER: A CONVERSATION WITH ZEKE GUZMAN OF JARDIN DEL PUEBLO
GOING DEEPER is a conversation between the LETS GET DEEP moderator, Elaine Chukan Brown and Zeke Guzman of El Jardin Del Pueblo.
Zeke Guzman is a lifelong advocate for farmworker rights with over 40 years of experience in workforce development, housing, and community organizing. A former migrant farmworker, he began his career after graduating from UC Davis, working with organizations such as California Human Development, La Cooperativa Campesina, and the Center for Employment Training. He developed the “Employment as Wellness” model to promote economic stability. He founded Jardin del Pueblo, a farmworker-led food justice initiative that produced over 43,000 pounds of food in 2024 and operates five farms across Sonoma County.
Zeke has supported affordable housing since the 1970s, including self-help housing in Windsor, and has recently secured approvals for 144 units in Cloverdale and Sebastopol. He serves with Commonspace Community Land Trust and on the State CLT Committee for homeownership for undocumented families. He is also President and Executive Director of Latinos Unidos del Condado de Sonoma, where he has volunteered for over 40 years.
LETS GET DEEP, a collaboration between Dos’ Bar and The Future Collective, is an event series designed to cultivate Sonoma Valley’s new generation of community leaders—opportunities to learn, build relationships, and generate ideas to determine how to better act on our commitment to the future of Sonoma Valley, sponsored by Sonoma Valley Catalyst Fund.
